課程概述

由每一位修課學生需針對特定主題選取一篇原著生物統計/健康數據拓析方法或理論型論文進行口頭報告並回答問題，其他同學則需評論與提問。
In the course, each student is required to select an original methodology or application paper in biostatistics/health data analytics for their oral presentation. After presenting, they will respond to comments and questions from the audience. Students who are not presenting are also expected to actively participate by providing comments and asking questions on the presentations.  

課程目標
 本課程藉由閱讀與討論生物統計/健康數據拓析之理論與方法相關文獻，將訓練學生成為相關專業人員，學習如何發掘及定義健康資料統計分析之研究議題，進而培養獨立解決問題的能力，增進科學表達以及學術專業寫作能力。

This course entails reading and engaging in discussions on original methodology or application papers of biostatistics and health data analytics. Through this training, we anticipate to equip the students with the ability to identify and formulate research questions, cultivate independent problem-solving skills, and enhance their scientific communication and academic writing capabilities as a biostatistician.  
課程要求
 1. 論文選擇與上傳：
(1) 由每一位修課學生針對特定主題，選取一篇原著生物統計/健康數據拓析方法或理論型論文於安排時間進行口頭報告。
(2) 所選論文必須於報告前4週寄給助教，方便助教上傳於NTU COOL上，以作為評論同學及修課同學聽取報告時之準備工作。
1. Paper selection and upload
(1) Each student in the course is required to select an original methodology or application article in biostatistics/health data analytics for oral presentation.
(2) Presenters must send their selected papers to the course TA 4 weeks prior to the presentation (to be uploaded to NTUCOOL) such that other students can prepare their comments in advance.

2. 報告時間與方式：
(1) 修課學生須以英文進行口頭報告。博士班學生每人報告之時間約為30~40分鐘，碩士班每人報告20分鐘，請斟酌投影片頁數。
(2) 在口頭報告最末必須提供1-2頁投影片，並口頭以英文表達整個報告總結。
(3) 報告者需再當天9 am前將投影片上傳至NTUCOOL。
2. Presentation time and format
(1) Students are required to give the oral presentations in English. Presentations are limited to 30-40 minutes for doctoral students and 20 minutes for master's students. Please organize your slides accordingly.
(2) At the end of the presentation, the presenter must summarize the paper in 1-2 slides.
(3) Presenters must upload their presentation slides to NTUCOOL no later than 9 am on the day of the class.

3. 評論與討論：
(1) 每次報告之後，有20~40分鐘討論時間，由3-4位事先指定的同學擔任評論員進行評論，報告同學則針對評論意見進行回應(鼓勵使用英文但非強制)。其他非指定評論同學也歡迎針對報告內容提問。
(2) 授課教師們會在報告最後輪流提問，並給予意見及反饋。
3. Comments and discussions
(1) A 20-40 minute discussion will follow each presentation. 3-4 students will be assigned as commentators to give a review and ask questions on the presentation (English encouraged but not mandatory). Presenters must respond in detail based on their understanding of the method and principles of the paper. Other students are encouraged to join the discussion.
(2) At the end of the Q&A session, instructors will provide comments, suggestions, and an overall evaluation of the presentation.

4. 每週評論作業：
(1) 當周非報告者在課程後需繳交一份簡短的評論報告(中文/英文皆可)，並於當天11:59 pm前上傳至NTUCOOL。
(2) 報告者無需針對自己當週的內容撰寫報告，但仍須在其他周次繳交對他人報告的評論。
4. Weekly commenting assignments
(1) Students who are not assigned to present or comment should write a brief review of the presentations (in either English or Chinese) and upload it to NTUCOOL before 11:59 pm on the same day of the class.
(2) Presenters do not have to submit their own review but are still required to write a comment on other students' presentations.
